The silent demo video will show how easy it is to keyword your images using the plugin.

Quick Start Instructions

  • Download MyKeyworder for Lightroom and save it to a location of your choice

  • Unzip the file you downloaded. If you are on a PC, you'll see the result is a folder. If you are on a Mac, you'll see the result is a single file.

  • Open Lightroom and install the plugin via the Lightroom Plugin Manager (File -> Plugin Manager -> Add) and select the folder/file that you unzipped earlier.

  • Restart Lightroom

  • Select an image that you would like to keyword

  • In the Lightroom menu bar, visit File -> Plugin Extras -> MyKeyworder for Lightroom -> Tag image(s) individually

  • Enter a few keywords into the search box and click "Search keywords"

  • Move the most relevant keywords from the left column to the right column using the arrows

  • Click "Save keywords to photo" to finish.

  • Note that you will only be able to export a maximum of 10 keywords per image unless you make a donation of US$10 or more.

  • Then reflect for a moment how fast that was compared to your previous workflow!

    Basic Features

Many of the questions we get are about the basic functionality, so here is a guide to the key features.

    Advanced Features

    Select multiple images

  • If you select multiple images, you can use "Batch mode" to apply the selected keywords to multiple images simultaneously.
  • If you select "Tag images individually" then the tool will cycle through the images for keywording without having to close and re-open the tool.

  • Auto extraction from Title and Description

  • If you complete the Title and Caption metadata fields before you open MyKeyworder for Lightroom to tag an image, the plugin will automatically attempt to identify relevant keywords from those fields.
  • Advanced Setting for Windows users: If you want to edit the words that are ignored by this function, edit the "Connectors.lua" file within the plugin folder.

  • Auto identification (Not available with Lightroom v4)

  • The auto identify button uploads a thumbnail of the image where image recognition is performed to automatically identify the contents of the image and recommend keywords.

  • Location tagging - Removed in Version 1.25

  • If only partial location metadata has been added to the image, the location tagging tool aims to help fill the Sublocation field by seeing if one or more of the keywords can be matched against nearby places.

  • Good to Know

  • You will need to be online for MyKeyworder for Lightroom to work.
  • Use the Donate button inside the plugin, and make a donation of US$10 or more, to remove the 10 keyword export limit of the free version.
  • Most stock agencies have a limit of 50 keywords per image so choose wisely and don't keyword spam.
  • I made a donation but I am still getting the donation pop-up window

If you change computers then the plugin will think that you have not donated yet. This is because Lightroom uses a unique identifier for each computer and we use that identifier to track if you have made a donation. Fortunately it is easy to reconnect the email you used to make your donation to the identifier of your new computer.

In Lightroom, launch the plugin like you would when keywording an image. Then click on the donate button. At the bottom of the pop-up window, you will see the following: "Please click here to reconnect to an old account." Click on the link and enter the Paypal email address you used to make the initial donation.

If that doesn't work, open a support ticket. We'll need the URL of the pop-up window that asks you to donate to investigate, so please include that and the PayPal addrss you used to make the donation in the ticket request.

I can't see the whole of the keywording pop-up, so I can't export the keywords

This typically happens on smaller screens like laptops. It's easy to fix. Go to File -> Plugin Manager then under MyKeyworder for Lr, you will see Preferences. In the preferences pop-up, you will see an option to adjust the window size. Adding "-50" to make reduce the window height by 50 pixels or choose another number to meet your needs.

Other problems or still need help?

Open a support ticket and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
